A plenary address will be given by Dr. Judy Meyer, a professor of ecology in
the institute and president of the Ecological Society of America.
All events are open and free to the public.
More than 40 doctoral and master's degree students will present their research
in the symposium, which will be held at the Institute of Ecology auditorium
beginning at 8:30 a.m. each day.
Meyer will speak on "Opportunities and Obligations for Ecologists in the '90s"
at 4 p.m. Sept. 30 in the Ecology auditorium, followed by a reception and
student poster session at 5 p.m. Meyer, an authority on stream ecology, is the

Students will speak on a number of topics, including community ecology, global
change, sustainable agriculture and aquatic systems. The doctoral program at the

fall of 1992, a master's degree and certificate program in conservation ecology
