I've enjoyed the energetic dialogues of the list! I am a Grayhare
who is shifting out of a science career into one which mixes
          experiential wilderness education/deep ecology/wilderness
philosophy & spirituality (defined as an existential smile).
Probably an natural, with the name of Bob Forrest. Part of the
mix is a partial return to academia at U. North Texas, Dept. of
Philosophy, where I first found ecofeminism as a course of study.

I dropped a quick "Root of Roots" note to the list a few days
ago, as the car pool breathed anxiously. I appreciate the reply
by Faith Barr Glove. For some time I've been inquiring about the
role of the denial of death in patriarchy and the oppression of
the "other". That particular repression appears to me to be the
root of roots, i.e. the underlying cause of other phenomema which
are commonly suggested as the root of e.g. the ecological crisis,
destruction of nature, domination of the female and peoples of
difference. I expect the lack of felt spirituality, the lack of
connectedness with nature are tied directly to the lack of
existential acceptance. Measures to foster repression of our
finitude, and the psychic distortions that result, are mostly
considered cultural norms; extremes lead to holocausts, trails of
          tears, etc

          Time to go. Tao!
          Bob Forrest
