i just wanted everyone (especially in the New England area) know that Clark
University's Graduate School of Geography every year gives out the socalled
W.Atwood award to a distingushed geograpger/contributer to our field, and this
year the award is going to Carolyn Merchant. She will be on campus on
October 10 and 11, and will give two lectures;
(1) "Reinventing Eden: Western Culture as a Recovery Narrative" (Monday, 8pm)
(2) "Partnership Ethics; Sustainability in the Next Century" (Tuesday 12 noon).

If you are interested in any of these, please call
        Maureen Shaughnessy at (508) 793-7282
to find out more about it.

I think we're in for a treat!!
