I'm replying to Lorraine Elliott's request for sources on women and
environmental action in Asia and the Pacific. There's a growing
literature out there, and I'll just mention a few of the more fugitive
sources that I've found interesting.

Asian and Pacific Development Centre (1992) Asian and Pacific women's
resource and actions series: Environment (Asian and Pacific Development
Centre)
-Can be ordered through Women, Ink, International Women's Tribune Centre,
777 United Nations Plaza, New York, NY 10017. Women, Ink distributes
many books on women/gender and development. They publish a catalog about
twice a year.

Li, Tania Murray (1993) Gender issues in Community-based Resource
Management: Theories, application and Philippine case studies (Halifax:
Environment and Resource Management Project (ERMP))
-Can be ordered from ERMP, School for Resource and Environmental Studies,
Dalhousie University, 1312 Robie Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada B3H 3E2

Shields, Dale and Barbara P. Thomas-Slayter (1993) Gender, class,
ecological decline, and livelihood strategies: A case study of Siquijor
Island, the Philippines. An ECOGEN case study. (Worcester, Mass.:
Clark University)
-Can be ordered from ECOGEN, Program for International Development, Clark
University, Worcester, MA 01610. ECOGEN has other publications that may
be of interest.

Mehra, Rekha, Margaret Alcott, and Nilda S. (1993) Women's participation
in the Cogtong Bay Mangrove Management Project: A case study
(Washington, D.C.: International Centre for Research on Women)
-Can be ordered from ICRW, 1717 Massachusetts Avenue NW, Suite 302,
Washington, DC 20036.

Hope this is of help.
