Position Announcement:
Full-time, Assistant Professor in the tenure system at Lyman Briggs
School, a residential, undergraduate program in the College of Natural
Science at Michigan State University, beginning August 16, 1996.
Requires teaching competence in first-year college writing and a PhD
with specialization in some area of Science and Technology Studies.
Doctoral disciplines considered include (but are not limited to)
English, American Studies, History, Philosophy, and Sociology.
Preference given to candidates with a record of scholarly achievement
and effective teaching related to science and technology. Members of
protected classes are especially encouraged to apply. Appointee
should be prepared to work closely with undergraduate students,
teaching each year at least two sections of a first-year semester
course that focuses on developing writing skills and introducing STS
themes, and at least one upper-level STS course. Salary commensurate
with experience, but in the range of $35,000 to $40,000. Letters of
application, accompanied by a curriculum vitae, writing sample, and
