Absolutely, in fact I would go far as to say (agribusiness) meat eating and
feminism are a contradiction in terms. Afterall, the "capital" of factory
farming are female reproductive organs, exploited to the hilt to produce
bodies, milk and eggs. If we can just get over the species barrier we could
see that there really isn't much difference between fighting for the
reproductive freedom of, for example, an agribusiness dairy cow (who is
impregnated an average of 2-4 times in her 2-4 year life, goes through a
nine month gestation period each time, only to have her calves taken away
repeatedly usually a day or so after birth, before she herself goes to the
slaughterhouse kill floor for hamburger or other processed meat) and the
fight for women to control their own bodies. In my view, speciesism is one
of the last major hold-outs in progressive, even feminist, circles... And
it almost goes without saying, this is of course only one area where
ecofeminism and animal issues overlap...
