Right on, Mary! I agree completely. Freedom of
educated choice is the way to go.
I've learned a lot reading Eisler. She describes how much of the
world is still stuck in the patriarchal mode of family planning
(often consisting of the wife being a sex slave to the husband,
without contraception, and without a say in how many kids she has
to bear). That factor alone might be the most significant in the
world's population growth dilemma. Very enlightening.
And Eisler's description of partnership cultures of 6000 years ago,
where the creative power of woman was revered and respected,
indicates that there WAS a time when men appreciated the fact that
they can't give birth out of their penis.
I'm sorry I snapped at you. I'm still angry about the drubbing I
took. Sexist or not, I've never treated a woman badly, and it
hurts to be put in the same grouping as woman-beaters and rapists.
(Our culture is really convoluted in its views on sex.) I guess
what I'm saying is, 'Learn to live with MY anger.' :-)
