Praise be to those who refuse to be coerced into having unwanted
children. When I was seventeen, I decided not to have kids so as
        1) to not contribute to overpopulation; and 2) to not bring a new
person into a world arguably headed for disaster. My friends
thought I was nuts. They said, "Who will take care of you in your
old age?" Now THERE'S an interesting reason for having children!
I'm now 41, and have remained childless. Ironically, I'm dating a
woman about the same age who also chose to remain childless. No
        regrets.

Not that we don't like kids. She's done a lot with kids (ran two
girl scout troops, etc.), and I helped my former girlfriend raise
her son for over eight years. I love him like he was my own son.

What's this got to do with ecofeminism? Well, if our culture
wasn't so caught up with "carrying on the family name" and cloning
ourselves, maybe population wouldn't be such a problem. I say,
everybody help raise all the kids. To hell with the dominator
"You're mine" nuclear family system. Let's stop owning each other.

Geez, we're all family anyway. According to genetic research, all
people of the world are at most 50th cousins, or closer. Distant
cousins are family. Why don't we act like it?
