In my deep fugue state I can ascertain only the slightest distinction between the anthrocentrism supposedly inherent in humans who eat meat, and the humans who only eat veggies. It appears from this discussion that eating plants is OK (because plants have no heartbeat??), but meat eating is somehow immoral. Just to place myself in the argument, I eat meat only rarely--NEVER cows (a political statement mostly: END WELFARE RANCHING IN THE WESTERN U.S.!!)-- as heart disease is rampant in my family. Still, I can't help but wonder if the rumor of guilt that seems to be associated with humans eating meat is trying to tell us something. Perhaps the apple in the Garden of Eden was really a pork chop. Mary Simmons [EMAIL PROTECTED]
