Subject: internationaly relvant?

Hello,

I have just found and subscribed to this list. My own outlook is close
to that of ecofeminism.

Since some of you want to start a new thread/ discussion subject, I
thought I would kick one of rather than lurk.

As ecofeminism has developed as new philosophy/ analysis/ movement
one is struck at how international it seems, however, i wonder the extent
of its relevance to women in third world countries, compared to women in
first world countries.

lots of love from suzanne.

I suspect that third world women care little about ecofeminism (what ever
that is. There seems to be very different ideas as to what that is right
here in this group.) or even ecology. Their dominant cultural beliefs in
many cases don't value women let alone respect them, Islam for instance. As
for enviromentalism, I think the vast majority of third world women are
more concerned about day to day survival even it means cutting down all the
trees in their area for firewood. The ecology concerns may be to them some
American rich people's fantasys while they in the third world are wondering
where to get something to eat tomorrow.
