My family is from southern West Virginia (I live in Northern Virginia).
I spent many vacations and Granny visits in WVa while I was growing up.
I flew down to Mercer County late last year after a five year hiatus
and was suprised at how much had changed even though everything seemed
to stay the same. Wow what the WVa turnpike has done for the
commercialization of Princeton. Cracker Barrels and WalMarts next
to rickety old houses complete rotted out window sills and rockers
on the porch. But nobody was rockin' in them. Kinda creepy.
Yes, you could call me interested in the Appalacian region, I suppose
in a way its home. Cheers, Nancy.
