Dear Kristin,

Thanks for your message on ECOFEM! Yes, I teach and do resaerch in
New Zealand. I'm trained in Political Science, but I teach in an
inter-displinary department focusing on "resource management" here at
Lincoln University. I've been at Lincoln for two years, coming from
the US (Loyola University of Chicago and Purdue University for
postgrad study). My areas of "specialty" are: environmental policy
and design, women and environment, and sociocultural perspectives on
resource management.

My Head of Department, Ian Spellerberg, is an ecologist, and he could
probably make some suggestions concerning further study or research
within NZ. You can contact him by sending post to the address listed
below, or by sending hime e-mail on: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

You could also contact the Fulbright Scholarships officer in your
area; there are regular exchanges between the two countries. The
usually have some sense of the research endeavours throughout the
country.

If you want any information on postgrad study at Lincoln, feel free
to ask. I'll be happy to forward it to you. Good luck with your
work and studies. Thanks for participating on ECOFEM!!

Best wishes,

Stefanie Rixecker

Subject: regarding resource management...

Hi there,
I have been reading a few messages that you send to Ecofem and noticed
that you are from New Zealand.......are you studying, teaching, or
conducting research? I ask because I will be graduating with a degree in
Biology and Environmental Studies this May, and am trying to get a
variety of experiences in field work before settling down at a graduate
school. I will be working in Costa Rica this June thru October doing sea
turtle research, and would like to do something else
(environmentally-related) afterwards. I have been to New Zealand (last
year) and loved it, I was there traveling on my own before heading over
to Australia where I spend a year studying, with a focus on rainforest
and marine ecology.
Anyway, if you happen to know about any internships (paid or not paid)
or any people there who could use another hand with research, I would be
very interested in hearing about them. Names of other people who may be
helpful would also be appreciated.

Thank you,
            Kristin Caruso
