I am probably misinterpreting what you are saying but for me "Auto Pilot" is
a good way to go. Cut out all that intellect and let the incredible complex
processes of our brains produce an intuitive response. This response for me
is more holistic. I feel it takes into account subtle nuances my conscious
processes ignore. Also I have never found a 'Spiritual Director' more useful
than my own internal sense of truth and beauty. I acknowledge a need to
check oneself out to avoid arrogance but I try to check myself out against
everyone else's experience not just one expert. I feel there is a danger in
choosing a guide in that you may choose one who will reinforce you in your
blind spots.

Important - we won't make progress by building up resistance. Talk about the
problems too. It isn't easy being green. If we make ourselves out to be too
perfect we are an impossible act to follow.

snip more neat stuff
