Announcing the 1996 Canadian Botanical Conservation Network Workshop: 

PARTNERSHIPS FOR PLANTS:
CONSERVATION, BIODIVERSITY AND BOTANICAL GARDENS IN CANADA 

September 5-9, 1996 

Royal Botanical Gardens Centre

The Canadian Botanical Conservation Network (CBCN) is a new organization 
being developed to provide the botanical gardens, arboreta and others 
maintaining collections of living plants in Canada with a common forum 
for exchanging biodiversity and conservation ideas and information and 
for developing cooperative conservation projects. CBCN is being developed
by the Botanical Conservation Office of Royal Botanical Gardens, 
Hamilton, with additional support from Environment Canada and its 
Environmental Conservation Branch, Ontario Region, McMaster University, 
and commercial sponsors Merck Frosst Canada Inc. and Glaxo Wellcome 
Canada Inc. 

PARTNERSHIPS FOR PLANTS is open to all interested persons or potential 
members of CBCN. It will feature a facilitated workshop atmosphere to 
discuss plant conservation programs and priorities and the operation of 
the new network. This weekend event will be of special interest to 
directors and/or curators of botanical gardens, arboreta, and related 
facilities, researchers, federal, provincial and municipal government 
representatives involved in plant conservation, NGOs and industrial 
and commercial organizations making use of plants or plant products, or 
looking for assistance in habitat rehabilitation and reclamation. 
Maximum registration is 75. The proceedings of the workshop will be 
published.

Evening Public Lecture: Thursday, 5 September, 1996 
CBCN Organizing Workshop: Friday, 6 September, 1996 
Plant Conservation Workshop: Saturday, 7 September, 1996 
Partnerships Workshop: Sunday, 8 September, 1996 
Day-Trips: Monday, 9 September, 1996 

COMPLETE REGISTRATION PACKAGE:

Includes admission to all workshop days, public lecture, and guided
tour of RBG on Monday, and proceedings book: $150. Student/Senior 
rate: $120. Day registration is also available (Regular: $50, 
Student/Senior: $35). Accomodations are available at several local
hotels.
