Gettysburg College is seeking applications for a visiting scholar to
participate in the College's 1996-97 Africa Area Studies Program on
Africa and the Environment. The visiting scholar will teach three courses
each semester related to the theme of Africa's environmental challenges in a
socio-historical context and will participate in the year-long Area Studies
program of visiting lecturers and films. Expertise is welcomed
in any field which relates to African society and the environment,
especially in the areas of African economic history and development, African
politics, gender and development, African history or anthropology. Length
of appointment is one year beginning August 26. Review of candidates will
begin immediately until position is filled. Salary is commensurate with
experience. Housing is provided. Gettysburg College is a highly selective
liberal arts college located 80 miles northwest of Washington DC, and 60
