I don't know if its unusual for women to be elected to these positions in
Canada but here in Australia we have women in Green party elected to our
senate. It seems though that it is only the smaller parties (here its
Green and Democrates) which would vote women as leaders. Do you think that
this might reflect the attitude that to elect a woman as leader of a major
party might mean a woman may become prime minister and that this is
serious? Smaller parties may not be considered as serious as large ones.
I have just wondered whether Australia has managed to get women in fairly
important positions (Green and Democrat senators) sort of by accident? Any
ideas.
I hope you get elected to parliament and can make an ecofem difference.
