I know i replied to jason about this but i didn't explain too well. There
is a branch of feminist research which looks at things differently to the
?normal ?male view of positivism. it is not to reject the above but to say
that positivism can neglect the richness of what we can research.
For example a non-positivistic feminist based researcher might research dv
by using the qualitative interview technique with women in refuges. the
questions might be open ended and difficult to code. this sort of research
is labor intensive and more difficult than the traditional 'male' oriented
research. but this feminist research should not be seen as inferiour
simply because of its difference. there are texts on feminist research but
i cannot recall any titles at present. i could possibly find titles if
anyone is interested.
