October 5-6, 1996 - CHANGE THE POLITICS: WOMEN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE, conference
presented by the Women's Studies Program at Southern Connecticut State
University in cooperation with The Connecticut Permanent Commission on the
Status of Women. Sessions addressing current issues and concerns about the
role of women in the local, national and international political arenas and
the impact of contemporary political forces on women's lives. SONIA JOHNSON,
feminist author, advocate for women's rights and former U.S. Presidential
candidate is the closing speaker on Sunday, Oct 6. Members of the board of
THE WOMEN'S CAMPAIGN SCHOOL AT YALE UNIVERSITY and local women elected to
office will participate in a panel discussion exploring the myths that keep
women from running for office and assuming political power on Saturday, Oct 5.
