I am interested in putting together a panel for the August 1997
Pacific Coast Branch of the AHA conference in Portland.
The focus of the panel, as I imagine it, is the relationship
between war and the environment. This topic can be defined broadly in
both time and space.
My own work for this panel concerns the application of Agent
Orange and other defoliants in Vietnam. I examine both the
environmental
transformation in Vietnam and the representation of that change in
American scholarly and popular publications.
Anyone working on the environmental effects of warfare and
interested in presenting their work, please contact me off the list.
