Dear EcoFem list,
Sorry about the personal stuff flowing between me and Kylie. It will
cease. Just one thing: I honestly did not think that KCMG meant
'kindly call me God' - Kylie's interpretation was much more
interesting than mine. I intended it to mean a stupid old chivalric
honour apparently still doled out over here, the Knight's Cross of
the (Most Distinguished Order) of St Michael and St George. I spent
some time at a school where they actually taught things like that.
Anyway, I'll refrain from idiotic asides and stick to proper
discussions, as requested.

Jesus and Paul were either mad or perfectly sane and according to
most history not from the Bible they were sane.
Some people who hear the voice of God are in mental institutions.
Most aren't and a perfectly sane.
Paul wasen't sexist it's just that some people who claim to be
Christians and Christians who have received incorrect teaching or are
confused about what Paul said like to justify mistreatment of women
by quoting these verses.
There is no excuse for mistreatment or degredation of women nor does
the Bible advocat such.
What the Bible does say is that men are supposed to be ultimately
responsible in families and in general leadership. Unfortunately
most men either don't accept or live up to this. Also a lot of men
misuse and abuse this position of responsibility.
In this case I do not blame women for exerting their rights and
demanding equal rights and seeking a higher place in society. Nor is
it surprising.
The Bible says we are to love our wives as we love ourselves and when
prioritising things God comes first then ones wife after that not
necessarily in this order children, job, other people and church.
Finally self.
Paul was never a tax collector.
He originally started out as one of the most hard out people in
Judaism. He was so passionate about his faith that he did his utmost
to eradicate Christians whereever he could find them. The only thing
that could stop him was a direct confrontation with Jesus Christ.
After this he bacame as passionate about Jesus as he had been about
Judaism.
The Bible does not advocate homophobia. It does condemn
homosexuality but there is no excuse in the Bible for some of the
things that so called "Christians" have done to homosexuals.
We are commanded to love our enemies. This does not mean tolerate
but LOVE. Unfortunately some Christians have a hard time with this,
I'm sure I don't need to tell you that.
And you should take Christianity seriously because its more than a
matter of life and death.
I take Religion about as seriously as Politics too. Because I also
dislike Religion. It is stifling and boring. Christianity is not a
religion it is a relationship. Unfortunately some denominations and
other groups have made it one.
I don't mean to be hard or to preach because ultimately what you do
with the truth of Jesus Christ is your decision:)
