hm, there's a possibility that I'll be in Vancouver at about this
time, I didn't know about the conference, but would really like some
more details ... if I am in Vancouver at the time it will be to
follow up last years field work. I spent four months in Vancouver
and on Vancouver Island interviewing women who have participated in
an ecofeminist Peace Camp in the summer of 1993 - the camp lasted
four months, over 12,000 people attended, over 900 people were
arrested blockading logging roads, protesting against the
clear cut logging of temperate rainforest ... Vancouver / Van Is is
one of the few places I've been where everybody has heard of
ecofeminism ... so whether at the conference or not, there are lots
of self-identified ecofeminists about. One woman I met, Fireweed,
was planning to organise "Gathering in the Green" basically a week
long series of workshops, etc, on ecofeminism - guess - this August,
I haven't heard any updates on this .. but could try and find out if
it is still on ... so maybe, you could send me send me details of
the conference, if I'm about it sounds good, and I could try and get
back in touch with you when I've found out if anyone is giving me
money to go back to Vancouver!
Cheers!
