SUMMER INTERNSHIP POSITION

Historical Research Associates, Inc. (HRA), a company of cultural and
environmental resource consultants, seeks applicants for a summer
internship in history in its Missoula, Montana office.  The position
is 40 hours/wk for 9-10 weeks.  The wage is $8.00 to $10.00 per hour
dependent on qualifications and experience.  Start and end dates are
negotiable.

HRA is a leading firm in the field of public history.
Founded in 1974, it has offices in Missoula, Montana; Seattle,
Washington; and Washington, D.C., and conducts business in nearly
every region of the U.S.  HRA's clients include US Department of
Justice, USDA Forest Service, National Park Service, Indian tribes,
private corporations, and other public and private agencies.  HRA's
staff include more than a dozen practicing public historians and
archaeologists with advanced degrees in history, archaeology,
anthropology, and environmental studies.

The intern will work under the guidance and supervision of a
sponsor, who is an HRA historian.  The intern will have exposure to a
variety of public history projects and can expect to work on a number
of assignments in the areas of environmental litigation, cultural
resource management (CRM), and administrative history.

Missoula (pop. 60,000) is an appealing city with beautiful
surroundings and is home to the University of Montana.  University
dormitory rooms may be rented for $600 to $1000 for 10 weeks (May 24
through August 2).  One-bedroom apartments rent for $350 to $500/mo.

Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate degree program in American,
environmental, or public history.  Applicants must demonstrate ability
and experience in research and writing.
