I imagine that the pentagon is doing exactly what it has always been
doing, including breast cancer research.  I don't doubt for a minute that
some of the pharmaceuticals research out there was funded by military and
military-related moneys.  Think of the Agent Orange/dioxin connection...

Besides, any time there is the remotest chance that the military industry
can get its claws into scientific research & shape it, they go for it.
Who knows--that info into environmental estrogens might be real helpful in
developing more bio-weapons or something . . .
