In fiction, I suggest taking a look at "My Side of the Mountain",
"Shardik", and "Watership Down."
In nonfiction, "The Sand Country Almanac", Brian Tokar's "The Green
Alternative and James E. Lovelock's "Gaia: A Way of Knowing" are
classics.
