Greenpeace to protest after French 'yes' to gene corn

Environmental group Greenpeace vowed Friday to widen protests against genetic engineering of crops after France approved two corn varieties in a move likely to attract a flood of U.S. imports to southern Europe. The action group urged European farmers to refuse to grow the grain and threatened to try to block imports of U.S. corn to Spain, set to resume quickly, as a result of France's decision. "We will absolutely continue our action.... This corn should not be allowed to enter Europe," said Greenpeace France director Bruno Rebelle.
