++Not all Islamics are bad and horrible. Also, there are women who have chosen
to stay and try and change things over time in countries taken by the Taliban.
It is extremist leaders who are the problem for they whip up hatred amongst
their
people and preach war a s a means of achieving solutions to problems.
Over time, the extremists will fade away and enlightenment will come.
The problem with many Islamic countries is a combination
of lack of education and poverty which makes them ripe for fundamentalists
to walk in and gain support. Quite often these revolutions
are not only about morals and religion but about haves and have nots.
++Angela, don't you tell people to stop whining about how men mistreat the Earth
(and women). For this problem is fact and has to be addressed. It is
wonderful to
say love will overcome all but in fact,urgent radical change may be more
likely to
overcome all. Men do head religion (look at the pope and his bishops), look
at the Anglican
Church (very male dominated) and so it goes. What about those people in the
USA with all
the wives? These males have virtually got a harem of women under the banner
of religion
(how convenient for them). Observe Islam ...observe most religions and you
will find them dominated by males.
It is in the interest of males to keep women repressed (globally) and this
something we have to fight.
Men have to be educated and confronted. What about rape? Rape is not about
sex but about power.
It is mens way of demoralising and subjugating women. Men even rape and
subjugate children.
There is so much that needs changing but many things will have to be
addressed and
those who do so MUST KNOW THEIR FACTS and explain things correctly when
necessary to bring about change.
We need womens networks and activism on a global scale.
We need women who support other women on issues of Eco-feminism and this
needs to transcend religions and political orders and age. Those of us who
dare to take up the challenge face hatred and abuse from some males
and possibly even death but we must soldier on and set an example for our
sisters and those males who
also agree with what we are trying to achieve.
