Mexico nabs alleged Malaysian animal smuggler
MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexican police have arrested a Malaysian suspected
of being a major smuggler of rare animals who is wanted in the U.S., the
Attorney General's Office said Tuesday. The PGR said Mexican members of
Interpol international police agency held Keng Lian Wong, alias Anson Wong,
at Mexico City airport Monday and will detain him pending his extradition.
A California court has issued an arrest warrant for Wong on charges of
trading in endangered reptiles, such as the Komodo dragon and rare turtles.
"In addition to being one of the leading smugglers of endangered wild
animals, he is accused of ... the illegal buying and selling of wild
