Why not focus on the options that are viable? Education, empowerment,
continued awareness, love, etc."

++We have an anti-population growth group here. Apparently the founder is a
practising gynacologist. He recommends that people have a maximum of two
children. I haven't joined this group yet but I have an activist friend who
has. I don't think we wil see a "mandatory" ceiling put on family size in my
lifetime but I do see mother nature fighting back and perhaps new forms of
disease and illness occuring which will cut back the human herd size. This
may happen because of our unhealthy population size in major city centres or
because of our use of intensive farming methods. What I am trying to point
out is that if we do not try to regulate our total human herd size on this
planet then mother nature will inevitably regulate the human herd size for
us (either through pandemics of new disease eg HK chicken/human flu or
deadly water germs eg in Sydney recently
4 million people were told to boil their water or risk ingesting a potentially
deadly parasite arising from a water supply that was contaminated and may
become so again. Or perhaps human movement around the globe will spread
disease and venturing into rainforests where we never went before will see
the outbreak of new forms of Ebola or Aids or perhaps our overuse of
antibiotics will lead to antibiotic resistance). Who knows what the outcomes
may be.

Also, here we are trying to prolong the lives of the rich through
xenotransplantation (eg. human compatible organs grown in pigs) and
expensive operations, while the poor die early deaths from illness, poor
diet etc.
Morally and ethically speaking, we live in a truly perverted world where the
bottom line is that rich people's religions telling the poor to prosper and
multiply and that contraceptives are "a sin". How guilty is the rich mans
relgion of directly contributing to the starving to death of mothers and
young children in third world countries? Where are the tubby European
priests and bishops when some poor woman weeps as her eigth child dies of
malnourishment or disease in South America because she is not allowed
contraception due to her
"rich man's" religion?
