They could offer a loving, nurturing and caring family to the child.
Just because two people are of the same sex does not mean that
they can't form a supportive family unit. (BTW, I am straight - as if it

Don't presume that gay and lesbian people cannot offer a good family
environment to children. Although I am not an expert on gay and lesbian
families, my view is that what nurtures children is a stable, caring and
supportive environment.
What is your definition of a "family" Angela? I raise my daughter on my own.
Once I lived with my husband (and we are still friends - platonically) but
now I live happily in an all woman household. (No I am not gay, my mother
lives with me and my daughter). Angela, many "married" hetorosexual couples
with children
provide abusive and intolerant environments for children. Sometimes single
parent families are happier than two parent families. No-one can generalise and
say that the best environment for a child is a traditional male father and
female mother because this is often untrue. A high percentage of married
women are subjected to domestic violence and many little girls have been
subject to incest by fathers or family members (I would have to find the
statistics but the figures are alarmingly high). There is a reasonably high
level of domestic violence and sexual abuse and drug use in heterosexual
families Angela, so in this day and age it is better to look at the
environment and loving caring stable relationship provided for a child than
to make subjective comments about caring human beings based on whether they
choose to parent with another man or woman.
