FDA approves breast cancer prevention drug
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved
the use of the breast cancer drug tamoxifen to prevent the disease in
healthy women, the drug's makers said Thursday. British pharmaceuticals and
chemicals giant Zeneca Group Plc, said the FDA had, as expected, given it

Zeneca said in a statement it had also finalized an agreement for Roche
Laboratories to co-promote the drug in the United States. Tamoxifen has
been shown in trials to reduce the risk of breast cancer in healthy women
by 49%. See full story
