Passage in Spanish monastery lets women see Goya art

MADRID, Spain (Reuters) - Spain's Queen Sofia inaugurated a specially built
passageway Wednesday in a 16th century monastery that allows women to see
nearly a dozen Goya frescos for the first time. The corridor was built at
the Aula Dei monastery, near Zaragoza, Spain, to change a centuries-old ban

passageway was built, visitors passed through the monks' living quarters to
see the frescos painted by Francisco de Goya in the 18th century. Women
could only view the artwork, which depicts scenes of the Virgin Mary's
life, after receiving special papal approval. See full story
