Subject: Compassion to the animals!
Hi!
It occurred to me this morning that a true heartfelt compassion for the
animals is alive and growing in some people and stagnent in others - why?
What makes a person love animals more then another person? What makes one
person complacent to the suffering of other animals and another fervantly
dedicated to them? Is it intelligence, spirituality, culture . . . , all,
more, what exactly does for instance a vegitarian know or think that makes
them different from a meateater? How does a person acquire a heart that beats
for the animals? Is it something we are born with or is it something that is
learned throughout a developing human life?

I would post this directly to Margueritte but I do not have her e-mail
address, so I am posting this to the list -
Margueritte - regarding your friend in trouble - there is a group I found on
the internet once that does Eco documentaries - I think they do videos about
the plight of indigenous people - they may be interested in her story -
however, I lost the website address - does your friend have access to the
internet - maybe you could search it for her - If I have time I will.
Also, there are environmental journalists who may be interested in the story
and bring help her way in terms of exposing the dilema - there is also an
environmental journalist site on the net _ lost that too.
Also, you could try WEED - I believe they did an article in the past about how
the woman in indigneous cultures get affected by social issues - try e-mailing
them about your friend.

In my view, the article "A Christian speaks out" is still a patronising
view given by people (in this case Christians) who seek tolerance for other
beliefs (but still imply that their own beliefs are the most correct).
The article routinely quotes the bible, a book that was written
approximately 50 years after Jesus death and which many say is a book that
leaves much out and
may be inaccurate as it is based on memory and written mostly by men.
For those such as Angela who say the bible was "Divinely inspired", the
Mormons say their book was "divinely inspired" and I think Chris Kings
website is "Divinely inspired".
One reason I am interested in religion is that religious dogma and belief
has not only caused much grief in years gone by but is, in my opinion,
contributing to some of the overpopulation that faces us today. Women have
to be given the
right to regulate their own fertility, this is what some male based religions
cannot accept and this has to change for a balance to be restored to this
Earth. Humankind has been too clever in prolonging the lives of humans and
humankind has been too prolific in multipling and we are now a scourge on
this planet.
