Britain to stop cosmetic tests on animals LONDON (Reuters) - The British government plans Monday to announce an end to the testing on animals of ingredients used in cosmetics, The Mirror newspaper reported. The government said last year it had halted testing of finished cosmetic products on animals, a move animal welfare groups hailed as a victory though it stopped short of ending all animal experiments. Now, the Home Office will announce an end to testing of individual cosmetic ingredients on animals as well, the Mirror reported Monday. It said the government had secured agreement from the companies involved to give up their licenses voluntarily, and would not issue further licenses.
