On national television, on the same stations and networks that draw huge bucks from running ads for McDonald's, and Bob Evans, and Denny's, and other companies that fill the pockets of television and radio moguls? Actually, there are THREE problems networks, radios, and magazines have with running TRUTH ads: 1) Pissing off the major sponsors; 2) Running the risk of "turning off" audiences and causing contraversy, especially with parents; 2) There isn't enough BIG money for to be made from truth-telling ads to make it worth running the risk. I tried to get a magazine to run a non-fur ad last year. The "compromise" was that I could not show pictures of dead animals, could not describe the fur-rendering process, and could not include any verbage that would be considered "contraversial," "gross," or "insulting." The ironic thing is, when you remove these three things from the recipe of real life, all you have left is non-animal-skin-wearing, life-respecting vegetarians. Imagine that! In the end, the magazine agreed that I could wish everyone a "Merry Christmas from Protect Animal Life" (the group I run). - Charlotte.
