This is all shadow play and kabuki theatre. It takes a 2/3 vote in the
Senate to remove a president from office, and the Republican Right
lacks the votes. It does disturb me that the House vote was hurried,
to silence the voice of the people as expressed in the November vote
(who clearly want Bill Clinton to stay), by holding the vote before the
representatives elected in it took office, thus giving the lame-duck
defeated Republican reps one last chance to shoot a Parthian arrow
in the hide of our President, for nothing more than receiving a
couple of consensual hummers and trying to be a southern
gentleman about it (a gentleman never tells). I'm just waiting for the
rest of the Larry Flynt shoes to drop, and more hypocritical
Republicans to be revealed as having illicitly "given the shaft"
themselves. Can anyone say "hoisted on their own petard"? When
enough of their own blood is spilled in this wave of puritanical
carnage, maybe they'll decide to sheath the swords of sexual
McCarthyism, and not demand extra- and premarital virginity of all
