Hi ecofeminists,
I also suffer from this lack of knowledge, and have been mulling it since your
posts. In a way, without trying to be sentimental (but probably being so), we
are NOT the front but the center. Environmental campaigns do tend to be
focussed on the immediate, by necessity, but we are attempting to forge a way
to make a hegemonic shift in consciousness that, in some circles, has already
occurred. The changes we are trying to create in a sense would happen on
their own, over a long time, even if we just sat back and watched the show, as
ideas travel in a ripple motion. But the essence of the problem for me, which
infected me from Chris's Genesis of Eden, you might say, is that there isn't
time. Therefore we, I think, are attempting to build a quick link, one that
wouldn't necessarily happen generically for ages. So what do we do that we
are not yet doing? This question is my constant companion, and since, I
believe, we are all determined not to do "it" in a way that just reacts to or
reiterates patriarchal solutions, it is indeed going to have to be truly
transformative. I don't know the answer, either, BUT if we keep picking at
it, we may find we have it! Any all inspired thoughts on the subject welcome!
