Dear friends,

Hope you find this interesting and will join me at the conference.

Subject: GEAR Global Crisis Solutions Conference (#2) and Exhibition, UC
Berkeley, Alumni House, March 1, 1999

We have an opportunity to support two distinguished Cal (UC Berkeley) Alumni,
Dr. Fred Wood III, and Dr. Brian O'Leary, in convening a conference of 200+
people with an opportunity to change the course of American history on March
1, 1999. Two prominent international activists from the Bay area have already
agreed to join them speaking that Monday, author Chris Conrad, and the
Reverend Yusen Yamato.

I need your advice for successfully organizing this conference to utilize
regular media like CSPAN, and additional outlets like live and recorded
internet video/audio broadcast, email, print, etc., to alert the general
public to the critical problems and available solutions associated with
today's global social and environmental emergency and to compel a public
response to them in order to implement US National Policy changes which can
ameliorate war, crime, nuclear and terrorism threats, global warming, ozone
layer depletion, etc., in time to prevent otherwise potentially imminent
catastrophes.

Below are discussed the basic details of the GCSC2 plan as of today including
invited and confirmed speakers, venue, list of issues, projected attendance,
and the kinds of help needed and when. If these needs are met by your
responses in a timely way, this event status will shift from a proposal plan
to an execution plan, hopefully by January 1, 1999. Only your positive
responses can make this event work.

Please now read carefully the following proposal plan, forward right away to
your list of interested contacts, and let me hear back from you about your
advice and commitments as soon as possible.

First, by way of important background information, Dr. Wood, now in his
eighties, is considered the Father of Systems Theory and he will be discussing
his comprehensive framework for a plan to guide the Earth from its present
condition to the condition of global peace and prosperity, a Global Peace &
Prosperity Cybernetics Program, as he first presented at GCSC1 at UC Santa
Barbara, June 1, 1997, a briefing for the Dalai Lama's science advisor. Dr.
O'Leary is a former NASA scientist/astronaut, university teacher, science and
energy policy advisor to four US Presidential candidates, author of over 100
technical papers and articles on aerospace projects like the space station and
of three books on the new frontiers of scientific exploration including human
consciousness (eg, mental healing process, psychokinesis, etc.), UFO's, free
energy (or new-energy) technologies such as the ZPE Zero Point Energy devices
potential to replace nuclear and fossil fuel power acknowledged May 12, 1998,
by the US DOE as "the Holy Grail of energy research", the LENT Low Energy
Nuclear Transmutation devices to neutralize radioactive wastes, and today's
imminent new-science revolution that has inspired his new book in progress
"Twelve Ways to Re-Inherit The Earth" that includes the advocacy of legalizing
hemp as part of an intelligent forestry and agriculture policy
<http://www.maui.net/~oleary>

Issues to be discussed will include abolition of nuclear weapons, power,
mining, and waste; insights to ameliorate conflict (from wars to violence in
the cities); inspirations for the advancement of human capabilities and
spiritual reawakening; remedies for global climate change including new-
energy technologies and emergency plans to regreen the planet while saving
remaining trees by relegalization and widespread global cultivation of the
hemp/cannabis/marijuana plant for all of its many uses and superior
bioefficiency; reform of US drug laws to end the war on drugs, reduce its
crime, violence, prison industry, tax burden, adverse impact on other
countries, and eliminate the recently acknowledged CIA complicity in the drug
trade <http://www.copvcia.com>; implement known remedies for addictions to
drugs and compulsive destructive behaviors (eg, Ibogaine <http://www.cures-
not-wars.org>); decreasing levels of government secrecy about peaceful and
military applications of new-energy and new-science discoveries.

The conference is presently scheduled to take place 10AM to 4PM in the Alumni
House Toll Room, which has an auditorium seating capacity of 200, with the
adjacent Bechtel Room functioning as a reception and hospitality area for
refreshments, individual media interviews with speakers while not at the
podium, recording videotape interviews, book signings, etc.(reception style
capacity 50). If attendance is large enough a kitchen is available where a
licensed chef may help us prepare food as well as an outside patio (reception
style capacity 200) where speaker and issue group tables, booths, exhibits,
etc., could be set up. The Toll Room has a phone line for
internet/video/audio output use and a large screen video projector is
available as well as VCR/TV, overhead projector, etc., for additional costs to
aid speaker presentations and/or to covey Toll Room program to audiences
outside or in Bechtel room.

The reason for the date of this conference is to coincide with Dr. O'Leary's
travel and speaking schedule and his preparation of final manuscript by July
1999 for his new book which may include some of the information presented at
this conference. There is really not very much time to organize, fund, and
promote this opportunity so all of your cooperation possible would be greatly
appreciated so we can take full advantage it. Costs for room reservations
alone are $550 for Toll Room, $100 each for patio and Bechtel Room. Food and
preparation costs are extra as well as needed arrangements for technical
support for videotaping and internet broadcast. Please let me know how you
can help by suggesting additional speakers, lending seed money, donating
financing or food or services, selling tickets, putting up flyers, group
endorsement or sponsorship or table/booth, emailing the world, etc. Because
CSPAN covered all day speakers at the War Resisters League march on the
Pentagon and one morning of the NORML conference last month in Washington, DC,
and because of commitments already received in LA regarding internet broadcast
capabilities, I feel that this is a very powerful opportunity but since I
myself have no income or financial resources and am still many thousands of
dollars in debt from producing the similar conference last year at UCSB, I
need all available help and advice to see this event happen successfully.
Please respond appropriately with whatever offer of help you can make, as soon
as possible.

So you can understand more of the overall vision of this event, I am here
offering a little more information about the two additionally confirmed
speakers, Chris Conrad and Yusen Yamato.

- Chris Conrad, owner of Creative Xpressions, is director of Business
Alliance for
Commerce in Hemp and Family Council on Drug Awareness, art director of
the Human Rights and the Drug War project, author of _Hemp, Lifeline to
the Future_, _Hemp for Health_, and co-author of _Shattered Lives:
Portraits from America's Drug War_ (with Mikki Norris and Virginia
Resner), _Human Rights and the Drug War_ (with Mikki Norris and
Virginia Resner) < www.chrisconrad.com > Member: Hemp Industries
Association. Chris edited Jack Herer's book in which he put forth the
evidence that hemp was fraudulently outlawed as marijuana, earlier edition of
"The Emperor Wears No Clothes". Chris has been a key figure in the
movements to legalize industrial hemp and medical marijuana.

Rev. Yusen Yamato is a Buddhist Monk and Zen Shiatzu Meditation Practitioner.
In addition to his Zen and Shiatsu lineages he is a practitioner of the
spiritual practice of the late most venerable Nichidatsu Fujii (whom Mahatma
Gandhi called his revered teacher, or Guruji, and took up the same spiritual
practice), a practice which he took up from his grandmother who raised him
with schooling in the monestary system of traditional Japan. He was the
coordinator of the Long Walk for Survival in 1980 and the initiator of the
United Nations 50th anniversary Global Peace Walk from New York to San
Francisco in 1995. He has worked in the US for over 20 years networking with
the indigenous American spiritual leaders and has facilitated some meetings
between their representatives and His Holiness Dalia Lama who gave him a
personal blessing for the Global Peace Walk. He has deep knowledge of eastern
cultures and a unique perspective and knowledge of the past two millenia
history including the overall role of the hemp plant outlawed in Japan since
1945 and previously a mainstay of the traditional economy. He has dedicated
his life to the spiritual reawakening necessary for Global Peace Now!

"We believe in the invisible good of the Almighty God as a discipline of the
mind in order to believe in the invisible good in other people and to thereby
bring it out" -- Most Venerable Nichidatsu Fujii 1978

"Correctly understood, Buddhism is not a religion but a science of mind" --
His Holiness Dalai Lama,
Santa Barbara, June 2, 1997
