Perhaps not fertility, but unrestrained fecundity. No one can argue that, on a
statically sized sphere, that life is a zero-sum game. There May not be a lower
limit, but there most certainly is an upper one. The unrestrained proliferation of
any particular species, most especially including ourselves, not only threatens the
integrity of that species, but the very survival of many others (see what has happened
with Australian rabbits and Hawaiian mongooses for examples).
