Judge stands by rape ruling ROME (AP) - An Italian judge who ruled that rape is impossible when a woman is wearing tight jeans is defending the decision attacked from all sides as sexist and dangerous. "We have complete respect for women. We are sensitive, very sensitive to the sexual problems that afflict women in society," Justice Gennaro Tridico said Friday. Added the gray-haired justice: "I stand by my actions and am ready to repeat them." Tridico is one of 410 men on the 420-member Court of Cassation, Italy's highest appeals court in criminal cases. By unleashing more hunters onto the birds, the government hopes to reduce the burgeoning snow geese population. The number of snow geese has grown so large biologists say the geese are destroying arctic breeding grounds for a wide range of other migratory birds. But the action immediately was criticized by the Humane Society of America, which has long argued the freewheeling use of hunters to reduce the snow geese populations is inhumane.
