I watched a documentary on Pakistan 2 days ago which showed graphic
evidence of women and children (I class a 16 year old girl as still a
child) being burnt with acid and burnt alive and shot by husbands and
brothers and fathers over imagined wrongs which upset the family's
honour (I think some men just wanted to get rid of their wives in
certain cases). It was so awful to see this 16 year old girl lying there
in pain (she died 2 days after the interview) and seeing these men
interviewed by an Australian reporter say they thought it was fine to
kill any wife or daughter who they suspected of having even a friendship
with another man. One Pakistani said that everyone knew women were weak
minded and likely to move from partner to partner if they were not
kept under strict rule of family etc. I couldn't believe it, these men
(the killers) were even laughing because they knew they's be set free
even though they'd murdered women. Meanwhile, there were women on death
row fow murdering/killing husbands in self defence (including one with
extensive burn marks/scarring - they are to be hung!!! What an awful
country! There is
obviously no justice for women in Pakistan.)

What can we do for these women?

The whole thing is so sad.
