just thought i would drop a line...i am a student (i guess i should say "was"
since she is no longer at Boston College) of mary daly's....actually, she is
more like a friend/fabulous mentor....i was just at her apartment last night
helping her go through all the mail she has gotten in the past 2 weeks...i
just want to set the record straight because i am here at BC and i know what
is going on...mary daly does not refuse to teach men...she welcomes them but
has chosen to teach them separately....she creates an amazing, claimed space
for women to learn and be inspired...the administration here has considered
her a major thorn in their side for 30 years now...the potential lawsuit
threatened by the Center for Individual Rights (yuck, yuck) is just what they
have been waiting for....so, in January BC offered her an ultimatum (hoping
things would stay hush-hush): teach Duane Naquin, the male student, in the
classroom, or face a major lawsuit....she resigned....this is happening
everywhere people!!!!! radical feminists, radical people in general, are being
silenced! it is all very, very depressing...she is an incredible woman who is
not interested in taking over the world or turning Boston College into a
matriarchy instead of a patriarchy...she simply wants (and this sounds corny)
to make this earth safer and happier for women...what the hell is so scary
about that? ok, that is all! feel free to write me with questions!
