Actually they do discuss the kkk, related racist groups, african american
history, malcolm x, kwame toure, etc. You know they are black, are African and
do have to face such racist in the west all over the world, even in America.
Somali people especially discussed them in the incidents over the years where
somali's have been attacked by skinheads in the u.s. - do a news check. It
also happens in france, england and even germany (imagine?) Many of them came
to this country and connected immediately to the kinship of african americans
and their experience with such people in the history of this country.

Why wouldn't they discuss the KKK often, don't you? You wouldn't be holding
some not so culturally positive ideas about what Somali people think, feel,
discuss, would you? Perhaps ones that compliment the ideas you expressed about
somalia and humanitarian missions?

Actually the Somali people have a wonderful history of poetry and the Somali
language is so very rich - reflecting their strength of expressiveness.

I don't know that you know anything beyond the superficial about Somali
history, culture, language, religion, contemporary politics, clanism, or that
you know any somali people on a personal level, much less intimate level (did
you date one?) or if you have ever been to Somalia. I am speaking from what I
know, cut and paste the email I got when I forwarded your email to the Somalia
e-list, and even got a call about it from my aunt, who is on the list and is
Somali. I forwarded the nicest response - the rest didn't say such nice things
- however I think that Joedees has become the "Somali" word for "psuedo-
liberal racist" so you are famous. It was only 15 minutes of fame though.

They discuss a wide variety of very political and social activist topics, many
of them are highly educated, working not only on the issues of their country,
but in economics, law, development, education, agriculture, environmental
advocacy, literature, etc.

You were the catalyst for a healthy debate on pseudo liberal racists and
maladjusted humanitarian project mentalities. Only a brief one, because on
that list such mentalities don't have a home so we kill them quite quickly.
During African history month we collectively celebrated with a rousing range
of talks about afro-brasilian, african american, african, aborigine, maori,
somali, etc. and other african people's history. A special highlight was our
discussion about kwame toure who died recently. We discussed his contribution
to pan africanism and the wonderful scope of black people who attended his
funeral and who came to his aid during his illness - including louis
farrakhan and the nation of islam who gave him money to help with his medical
expenses from the moment his sickness was revealed. Kwame also went to cuba,
and was welcomed by the afro-cuban community as a brother. Fodder for great
conversation.

I also went to a Somali wedding during february - more relatives - and had a
rousing good time where the topic of a bunch of black people wandering in
connecticut, driving up through new jersey, new york into connecticut probably
had the state troopers and local police on hot alert for that ever present
crime of DWB - driving while black.

Certainly they find such discussion relevant, and I used your email as an
example of what we collective face - in the same manner you spoke about
reading the protocols of zion and other such documents to be aware of the
enemy.

As I think it was you who said, they are reading us, so we should be reading
them.

For us, the them is you too.
