Dear eco-fem,
Could I politely remind the members of this list that it is devoted to
ecofeminism - ie.e. ecological feminism. This carries with it some sort of
appreciation for biology and ecology as well as gender and also something
of the sociobiological complementation of woman and man in a feminist
perspective.
Short of genetic engineering, men and women are both an essential part of
the ecosystem and hence part of the problem of biodiversity holocaust and
hence the key to its solution.
I would remind the ardent separatists that sexuality is pivotal in the
evolution of the human brain and that parthenogenesis work only in a
stratified non-evolving niche. It is also very prone to devastation by
predators and parasites because of the mono-clonal nature of reproduction
without sex.
The relative balance of social feminism and ecology seems to be being lost.
Also lost is the mutual respect between the genders which accepts out
biological complementation. Since the genders need to inter-depend to
survive, we need to begin working together to save biodiversity. I
recognise this call continues to go unanswered but it is nevertheless key.
