Thanks to all who gave me info on their **EARTH DAY** happs - and
especially FAITH FREEWOMAN who "showered" (loaded?) me with stuff!
Very heartening!

On our campus (Un.of Tex.-Arlington), our "Progressive Students'
Union" had a fair w/live music & related booths/info, etc. This was
good - but I am dismayed that our academic units directly related
to this subject did not involve themselves. The EPA has instituted
several environmental programs here, which have since been picked up
by the university. We have an AIR POLLUTION TRAINING ACADEMY and a
CENTER FOR ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH & TRAINING (for the business
community). I think I am the sole person on this campus "nagging"
these people to "do" something PUBLIC/"promotable" but they don't
seem to be interested. It's a shame ----- we also have a new
GRADUATE program in ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING. As a former (and
probably FOREVER) public/community relations person, it surprises
me that academia doesn't see a need to PROMOTE when incoming money
is getting scarcer and scarcer. (AND - it is based on the number of
students you have, also!)

Ah, well - fight on...

***H A P P Y E A R T H D A Y, everybody!!!***
