I think the logic here is cats and dogs being "pets" as is written in the news.
Quoting: "There is no evidence that pets are being killed in the U.S. for their fur,
but DNA tests on fur..." Feed a cow, prove it to the government that it is a pet, so
then it can be a crime to kill it for the meat.. :)
