Hello!

I'd like to have some help for my schoolwork from you. I'm writing an
essay about celebrating the International Women's Day. The point that I
want to make there is that people here, in Estonia, have quite wrong
understanding about what this holiday is all about. Here it's celebrated
as if it was another Mother's Day, with only one difference -- it's more
meant for single women.

On the 8th March we'll have the same propaganda of tratitional roles of
women (like motherhood, being a good wife for one's husband, etc.) as on
Mother's day. I even remember one (male) friend of mine asking me last
year if it was suitable to wish me Happy Women's Day since I was a
feminist. Also, the beauty contests are held on that day.

So, I'd be really grateful if you could tell me how the 8th of March is
celebrated everywhere else -- is it a holiday for working women or more
something like it is here, in Estonia. Also, I'd be grateful if you gave
me some web-addresses where I could find out about the history and
traditions of that day. Please mail me on my personal address:

Thank You,
Evelyn
