Hello to all,
I was a little dismayed at Vikki's comment. I'm new to this list, so I
waited a bit to see if ecoFem had a consensus [on one side or the other] on
how appropriate it was for the list. I don't have children but the children
of this world do matter to me as an ecofeminist. War does, too. Very much
so! [For one the Kosovo war has wreaked a terrible destruction on the
environment, I have excellent reports on this if anyone is interested].
Already the children are inheriting a massively eco-damaged planet,
especially in some parts of the world. Now war breeds rape (I have posted to
other feminist lists excerpts from Starhawk on this, that I'll send if you
wish). So here you have children tortured into becoming soldiers so that, as
the next generation, they can ruin the environment and rape women.... We are
far from the native American concern with caring for the earth for the seven
generations before us and the seven generations after!
A last word. If you wonder where I come from when I say all this, here's my
web site

In appreciation of ecofeminists anywhere,
Viviane Lerner
