Applications and nominations are invited for the position of Director
of the Center for Women's Studies in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences
at West Virginia University, the state's Land Grant, Research I institution,
enrolling 23,500 students.  The Center for Women's Studies seeks an innovative
individual with scholarly credentials, strong interpersonal skills and proven
administrative talent.

WVU's Women's Studies Program began in 1980 and offers an undergraduate minor
and a graduate concentration through the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies
degree program.  Three full-time staff support the Center.  Two Center
faculty and 100+ faculty associates across the campus teach 25 courses
each semester that are part of the women's studies curriculum and provide
service to and strong support for the Center.  The Center also enjoys strong
support from College and University administrators and plays an active role
in the University's social justice program, while also working to promote an
understanding of the history of women at WVU.

The applicant should have professional credentials qualifying for appointment
at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, a commitment to excellence in the
areas of teaching, research, and service and have:

1.  Earned doctorate and an established national reputation for scholarly
achievement consistent with an appointment as a tenured Associate Professor
or Professor;
2.  Minimum of three years of appropriate administrative and leadership
experience;
3.  Demonstrated commitment to social justice;
4.  Demonstrated ability to foster academic excellence and integrity in
instruction, research and service;
5.  Appreciation of the role of faculty governance and a collaborative
approach to decision making;
6.  Ability to work cooperatively with external agencies;
7.  Demonstrated success in grantwriting, fundraising and development

Candidates from all disciplines are welcomed to apply.  The successful
candidate may come with tenure in women's studies or a related discipline.
The director will have an 11-month contract.  The initial appointment
will be for 3-5 years and may be renewed.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.  Applicants
