INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ECOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT OF WOOD IN WORLD RIVERS

ANNOUNCEMENT FOR CONTRIBUTED PAPERS AND POSTERS

Organizers of the International Conference on Ecology and Management of Wood
in World Rivers have included sessions for both contributed oral
presentations and poster presentations to complement the invited review
papers that will be presented in the Plenary Sessions.  Abstracts for
contributed papers must be received by April 1, 2000.  Abstracts for posters
must be received by August 15, 2000.  Details are provided below.  More
complete descriptions of the conference and registration information are
available at the conference website at http://riverwood.orst.edu.


Abstracts for Contributed Papers and Posters 

Registrants may present their research findings or case studies orally in
concurrent Contributed Papers sessions or through posters in the poster
sessions. Both posters and contributed papers should reflect the conference
goals and address at least one of the major topics covered in the Plenary
Sessions (refer to "Topics" page for complete list). Submittals for both
contributed papers and poster sessions will be screened for technical merit,
and should describe quantitative results of completed research or work in
progress. Regular abstracts (200 words) for contributed papers and extended
abstracts for posters will be compiled in a booklet for conference
registrants but will not be included in the published book of conference
proceedings. Please note that authors of contributed papers or posters are
required to register.

Posters:  Posters should not exceed a total dimension of 36" x 60".
Participants wishing to display a poster at the conference must submit an
Extended Abstract of research findings in the required format by August 15,
2000. Cut and paste or type directly into the electronic form below.
Extended abstracts for posters should not be more than 5 pages, using a
9-point Times Roman font. One black and white graphic (table, graph, matrix,
location map) will be permitted in the extended abstract. Graphics for
extended abstracts must be in electronic format. References cited in the
extended abstract should be published materials accessible to the public.
Citations should be formatted consistent with the following example:

Contributed Papers: Participants wishing to present their work during the
Contributed Papers sessions must submit an abbreviated abstract describing
their research by April 1, 2000. The abstract must be less than 200 words
using a 9-point Times Roman font and should identify one of the major
conference topics that is most closely related to their research. Abstracts
may be submitted electronically in the form below. Abstracts may also be
mailed to Kelly Wildman, 104 Nash Hall, Oregon State University, Corvallis,
OR 97331 or FAXED to Kelly at 541-737-3590. Contributed Paper abstracts
received by the closing date will be reviewed for relevance to the
conference goals and topics and technical merit. Accepted abstracts will be
assigned to one of several concurrent sessions.  Presenting authors will be
notified of the acceptance of their paper by May 1, 2000. Accepted abstracts
will be compiled in a booklet of Conference Abstracts that will be provided
to all registrants.
