Assistant Unit Leader,
Texas Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit
Texas Tech University
Expertise: Wildlife Habitat Ecologist with experience in grassland
ecosystems.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Wildlife Science or closely related
field. Ability to generate extramural research funding. Wildlife habitat
ecologist with experience in nongame bird, mammal, or herptile ecology and
management in grassland habitats. Demonstrated publication record.
Duties: Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with natural resource
management agencies and scientists to develop and conduct interdisciplinary
research programs with application to local, regional, and national
resource issues. Cooperators of the Texas Unit include the Texas Parks and
Wildlife Department, Texas Tech University, USGS, and the Wildlife
Management Institute. Direct graduate students in the Department of Range,
Wildlife, and Fisheries Management. Teach one graduate course per year in
applicant's area of expertise.
Appointment: The successful applicant will be an employee of the U.S.
Geological Survey at the GS 12 level. The individual will also hold an
appointment in the Department of Range, Wildlife, and Fisheries Management,
Texas Tech University as an assistant professor.
